Approve Award of Bid Invitation #1416 (Test Drilling and Rock Blasting for the US 421 Water Relocation Project:

On March 22, 2007, Invitations to Bid were sent out to 12 different licensed blasting contractors.  The opening date was set for April 5, 2007; unfortunately, no bids were received on that date.

In an effort as not to delay the project, the Invitations were resent the following day.  The opening date was set for April 20, 2007.

The scope of this project involves furnishing approximately 3,000 linear feet of test drilling and approximately 5,000 cubic yards of rock blasting, to be provided along the proposed water line alignment.  The engineering construction estimate given to the state was $178,860.  All of the construction costs should be reimbursed to the FPB by the KYTC under our existing contract.                                                                                               

Due to the fact that the bid opening date fell later than the date the agenda items were due, the results of the bid opening and Staff’s recommendation will be handed out at the  Board meeting.
