Approve Award of Bid Invitation #1414 (Furnish and Install Six Steel Casing Pipes for U.S. 421 Water Relocation Project - $398,240) Contingent Upon Receipt of the Required Bonds and Proof of Insurance Being Acceptable to Staff Attorney:

Bids were mailed to 10 contractors with only two responses being received on April 5, 2007:

1. Kenney, Inc.                                           $398,240
2. Claunch Construction (late bid)        N/A

The scope of this project involves the furnishing and installation of approximately 1,165 linear feet of new steel casing pipes to be bored and jacked in place.   The engineering construction estimate given to the State was $464,390.  Most all construction costs will be reimbursed to the FPB by the KYTC under our existing contract.

Kenney Inc. has satisfactorily installed casings for FPB in the past.  Additionally, other references checked resulted in favorable recommendations.  Staff recommends that the Board award the bid to Kenney, Inc. in the amount of $398,240.

Upon receipt of the required bonds and proof of insurance, contract documents will be  forwarded to the Staff and Board Attorneys for their review and approval prior to execution  by the Board.
