Approve Renewal and Launch of Lifetime Entertainment Networks (LES) to Basic and Digital Cable:

Lifetime Entertainment Networks (LES) – Staff recommends that the Board approve the renewal of Lifetime (LT) to basic cable, Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) to digital and the launch of Lifetime Real Women (LRW) to digital cable.

Lifetime (LT) – The term of the Agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2006 and runs through December 31, 2008. The license fee contains increases each year that were anticipated and budgeted.



Lifetime Movie Network (LMN) – The term of the Agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2006 and runs through December 31, 2008. The license fee contains increases each year that were anticipated but exceeds budgeted figures. Due to the removal of a digital channel in January (Trio) from the digital cable lineup, Staff will redirect funds to cover this unanticipated increase.



Lifetime Real Women (LRW) – The launch of this channel on digital cable was a component of the negotiating process with LES. FPB agrees to add this channel by April 1, 2006 and the term runs concurrently with the others through December 31, 2008. The license fee for the last three months of the fiscal year will be paid from the same channel savings that are detailed above with LMN. Staff has funds available in the following two FY budgets to absorb the license fees.

The Staff Attorney assisted in negotiating these agreements and they meet with his approval.
