Approve Contract with Computer Systems, Inc. to Bill Long Distance Carriers:

Staff recommends that the Board approve the proposed contract with Computer Systems, Inc. The contract establishes Computer Systems, Inc. as an FPB billing agent to process and send access charge bills to long distance carriers.

Computer Systems, Inc. will process electronic data files provided by FPB and produce monthly bills to companies such as AT&T, MCI, Sprint and BellSouth Long Distance Co.The billing is for these long distance companies’ use of the FPB telephone switch to originate and terminate long distance calls for our local telephone customers. The access charges are those contained in the FPB Access Services Tariff that was recently filed and approved by the Kentucky Public Service Commission.

Several different billing companies were contacted for consideration. Computer Systems, Inc. was chosen because of price, superior technical support, and the fact that it requires only an initial two-year contract.

This contract has been reviewed and approve by the Staff Attorney.
