Approve Resolution Endorsing the Repair and Maintenance of Existing Locks and Dams Numbers 1-4:
At the September 20, 2005 Board Meeting, a motion was made and approved to draft a Resolution supporting the Frankfort/Franklin County Tourist Commission’s efforts to reopen the Kentucky River connecting our Capitol City and Bluegrass Region with the Ohio River and beyond. Specifically, the Tourist Commission is promoting that the Locks be rehabilitated and kept operational as opposed to being shut down.
Currently, Locks #1, #2, and #4 are capable of limited operation and Lock #3 is inoperable. Therefore, Staff recommends that the Resolution be approved and executed.
