Approve Amendments to the Job Classification/Pay Compensation (JC/PC) Plan:
Staff recommends that the Board approve the reclassification of two positions within the Human Resources Department, and the reclassification of one position and the elimination of one position in the Support Services Department.
- Reclassification of the Human Resource Coordinator Position effective June 20, 2006.
This position is currently vacant following a retirement. The reclassification is based on changes in the Class Specification/Job Description including eliminating supervisory responsibilities for this position. The Compensation Committee recommends changing the pay grade from a 33 to a 31, which will result in a payroll decrease of approximately $3,786 based on the minimum salary for the position.
- Reclassification of the Human Resource Assistant II Position effective July 1, 2006.
The reclassification is recommended based on changes in the Class Specification/Job Description including additional duties/responsibilities for the position and an increase in the education and experience requirements. The Compensation Committee recommends increasing the pay grade from a 25 to a 27, which will result in a payroll increase of approximately $2,808 in the minimum salary for the position.
- Reclassification of the Service Center Dispatcher Position effective July 1, 2006.
The reclassification is recommended based on changes in the Class Specification/Job Description. The position description was updated to better reflect the significant contact with customers regarding electric and water services and additional duties such as entering service orders for the Electric and Water Departments in the Customer Information Billing System (CIBS). The Compensation Committee recommends increasing the grade from a 23 to a 24 which will result in a payroll increase of approximately $1,206. This position is currently vacant; however, Staff plans to promote an employee into this position.
- Eliminate the Service Center Backup Dispatcher Position effective July 1, 2006.
Staff plans to promote the employee who is currently in the Backup Dispatcher position to Dispatcher. The department does not anticipate the need to fill the Backup Dispatcher position in the future and recommends eliminating the position. This change will result in a decrease of approximately $23,691 in payroll expenses.
