Informational Item - Bain Moore Hill (Red Bridge) KIA Water Project Update:

In 2005, Franklin County was allocated $225,000 by the State to install a water main along Devils Hollow Road to provide service to a few unserved residences near Red Bridge. Due to a lack of complete funding, this project was divided into two phases. Phase one would be to install as much new water main as the allocated state funding provided. Phase two would consist of the remainder of the project down to Red Bridge as additional funding became available.

This summer, Staff prepared a project profile and sponsored the project at our local Water Management Council (WMC). On June 14, 2006, the WMC approved the project and assigned a WRIS#, a requirement before the County could begin the paperwork to acquire the allocated funding from the KIA.

The County acquired the services of a grant administrator to perform all the necessary paperwork and facilitate the transfer of funds between the KIA and the County. To date, that process has started, but the progression of which is under the control of the County's administrator.

Staff should be able to proceed with design and construction once the funding and agreements between the County and FPB are complete.
