Informational Item – Bluegrass Water Supply Commission (BWSC) Update:
The last monthly BWSC Meeting was held in Cynthiana on September 25, 2006. The minutes (draft) of that meeting are provided on Pages C-5/1-5. Two particular items of interest to the FPB were discussed at that meeting.
Joe Henry and Bob Smallwood, GRW Engineers, delivered the same presentation given to the FPB detailing capital improvements and estimated costs to expand our water treatment plant and distribution system. The BWSC then directed O’Brien & Gere to review the conclusions of GRW Engineers and complete the review of water supply alternatives.
Linda Bridwell of Kentucky American Water (KAW) also delivered a presentation outlining a suggested partnership with the BWSC (See C-5/6-11). Specifically, KAW suggested co- ownership (proportional to investment) of a regional plant and pipeline to Lexington. Their plan indicated they would not participate in any other costs to supply water to the other BWSC members. Specific details pertaining to the suggested partnership were not included in KAW’s presentation. KAW’s proposal is currently under review by the BWSC.
