Service

An application for service must be completed in person for: Electric Service and Security Lights.

Establish Service

  1. Application for service shall be made in person at the Business Office during normal business hours. Application for service may also be made at the East Farmers Bank Branch.
  2. The applicant is required to present a Drivers License, Social Security Number, and their mother’s maiden name.
  3. Applicant shall provide FPB with their mailing address and the street address of the new service for which they are making application
  4. Applicants desiring services where no facilities exist must contact the appropriate engineering department.
  5. A deposit maybe required as well as other fees depending on the type of service.
  6. Prior to connection, all new electric services require an inspection by the local inspector having jurisdiction.
  7. A new service will not be provided to an applicant who has an over due debt with FPB. Settlement of the debt will be required prior to connection of the new service.

Transfer Service

  1. Routine requests to transfer service to a new location will be processed in the same manner as a new application for service.

Discontinue Service

  1. A request to disconnect a service must be made by phone, in person, or in writing.
  2. Customer must provide the account number and address of the service location to be disconnected.
  3. A 24 hour notice is required prior to the effective date such disconnect is requested.

Service Changes

  1. Routine requests to make changes to an account relating to phone number, name changes, billing addresses, etc, maybe made by phone, in person, or in writing to the business office.
  2. To request a modification of FPB facilities to meet the customer’s needs, the customer must contact the engineering department to determine feasibility and cost.

Service Disconnection/Reconnection

Contractors, electricians, or any other parties are not authorized to make connections to FPB facilities, nor are they permitted to disconnect from FPB facilities. The cutting of a seal or lock, removal of the meter, or any type of alteration, or tampering, for any reason, is a violation of KRS 514.060 titled “Theft of Services”.

  1. Disconnects at the meter are normally handled by contacting Customer Service and providing a 24 hour notice prior to the desired date and time of the disconnect.
  2. Disconnects at the pole require a minimum three working days notice and are scheduled with electric operations.
  3. Disconnects at the transformer (pad mount) require a minimum three working days notice and are scheduled with electric operations.
  4. Disconnects for large power customers are scheduled through electric operations or engineering. This type disconnect normally requires a work order and a charge to the customer.
  5. Reconnections will be made during normal working hours unless prior arrangements have been made with engineering or operations.
  6. Any change to an existing service is required to have an inspection prior to reconnection.

Easements

Easements are required for the extension of FPB facilities onto private property. Easements granted by the property owner provide FPB the right to construct, operate, repair and maintain their facilities for the purpose of conducting and distributing electricity, water, and telecom services.

Easements are owned by the property owner and are available for the property owner’s use so long as their use doesn’t prevent or hinder the use of the easement by FPB. Easements of record are recorded at the courthouse in the county in which the property resides.

Standard electric/telecom easements:

            Transmission – 50 feet in width

            Overhead distribution – 25 feet in width

            Underground distribution – 20 feet in width

            Secondary distribution – 12 feet in width

Lighting Requests

Security Lights – FPB offers a security lighting program for lights installed on customer’s property. Application can be made at the Business office.

Street lighting – This is lighting installed on the street right of way whose purpose is to light the street. Street lights are installed by FPB when requested by either the City or County Government. FPB will not install street lights requested by the customer.
